Reach out to young people…. with a canal boat

Reach Out Plus appealA Hertfordshire community boating charity is currently recruiting in both volunteer and paid roles.

Reach Out Plus offer canal-based holidays to disabled and disadvantaged teenagers. They have four specially adapted boats at their base at Nash Mills and take young people on week long trips.

They are now looking for volunteers with an interest in or experience of young people with special needs to accompany the team on the boats.

Among the paid positions is a vacancy for a part time maintenance officer working 24 hours per week. The ideal person would have some experience and knowledge of servicing marine engines and doing minor repairs. They would also be responsible for maintaining the boat base and managing volunteers.

Other available roles include Circles of Support Coordinator, Community Fund Raiser, Volunteer Coordinator/Admin Support and Marketing Assistant.

Full job descriptions are available at Reach Out Plus.

The project also has a varied and imaginative programme of fundraising events throughout the year.

On the 28th April you could visit Veer Dhara Restaurant and Lounge in St Albans for a unique Bollywood Fundraiser Night. With performances from the former UK Bollywood Champions, a delicious buffet style Indian Cuisine, Magician Entertainment and more!

If you have plenty of energy check out their active challenges and choose from skydiving, marathon running, cycling and more!

No two community boating projects are the same. Why not see what’s on with your local organisation or train in community boating?
