Each year the London Canal Museum celebrate Halloween in partnership with three NCBA member organisations: Camden Canals and Narrowboat Association, The Pirate Castle and Angel Islington, who offer a trip through the 193 year old Islington Tunnel in a spooky decorated boat. Kids will receive sweets and a glowstick and may even get a chance to meet a witch!
The boat, Tarporley is operated by Camden Canals and Narrowboat Association and is a 1937 working boat which has been run as Camden’s community narrowboat for over thirty years. Book ahead for the Halloween trip on the London Canal Museum website.
The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust are running their usual ‘creepy cruises’ at Newbury all half term week on narrowboat Jubilee. Trips leave at 2pm from Monday 27th to Friday 31st October. Kids will enjoy a spooky story and a Halloween quiz. Children that come dressed to trick may also get a treat! There will be a licenced bar for the grown-ups.
This year they’re also organising an adult Halloween cruise at Devizes. No kids allowed! The adult cruise leaves at 7pm on 31st October for a spooky evening of ghoulish food, creepy games and “monster music”. If you dare to wear fancy dress there’ll be a prize for the best outfit! The £12 ticket includes supper. Boat trips leave from the visitor centre at the wharf in Devizes. Tickets are available in advance from Newbury Information Centre 01635 30267 (Adults £6 Children £4)
